Vancouver Fire Dept battles attic fire in Glenwood Neighborhood (Photo) - 07/26/20

Shortly after 5PM Sunday evening, Vancouver Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 8902 NE 119th St. First arriving fire units found a working attic fire in a single story manufactured home. Water was applied to the soffit vents from the outside until additional units arrived on scene and were able to enter the structure to apply water through the ceiling into the attic. The fire had spread through the entire attic of the 1300 square foot home prior to arrival of fire crews and near 100 degree temperatures made it difficult to fight the fire which took approximately 45 minutes to extinguish. Vancouver sent five engines, one ladder truck, two water tenders and two battalion chiefs to the blaze. One engine from Clark County Fire and Rescues assisted. All occupants were able to exit the home prior to firefighters arriving and no injuries were reported at the fire.

A total of three occupants were displaced from the residence and were being assisted by the American Red Cross. Clark County Fire Marshall’s office was on scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
