News Release
Two overnight fires in Vancouver keep crews busy - 07/05/20

Two residential fires occurred overnight in Vancouver. Fire crews reported that both started on the outside of the residence, burned up the vinyl siding and threatened fire in the attics. Helpful neighbors used garden hoses at each location to slow the spread of fire until fire units arrived.

The first fire occurred at 10:51PM on July 4th at 6508 NE 104th Place. Four engines and one ladder truck from Vancouver Fire responded to the incident. On arrival, crews found the fire on the outside of the house had been extinguished by a neighbor. No fire reached the attic, though technicians from Clark County PUD and Northwest Natural Gas were requested to the scene to assess fire damage to the respective meters. Fire crews remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes to ensure that no hidden fire was in the walls or attic. Seven residents were displace and were assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported from the scene. The cause of the fire was under investigation by the Vancouver Fire Marshall’s Office.

The second fire came in at 12:45AM on July 5th at 3203 Watson Ave, Unit B. Two engines and two ladder trucks from Vancouver Fire and one engine from Clark County Fire District 6 arrived to find a fire on the outside of the residence extinguished, but active fire burning in the attic of the single story duplex.  Fire crews were sent inside each unit to extinguish the attic fire. The fire went out quickly and crews remained on scene for approximately one and half hours ensuring hot spots in the attic were extinguished. The American Red Cross came to the scene to assist the four residents who were displaced. No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the fire was under investigation by the Vancouver Fire Marshall’s Office.
