At 0239 a single unit from Vancouver fire was dispatched to the Regency apartments at 11301 SE 10th St for a smoke detector activation. While enroute the 911 center continued to receive reports of smoke in the area of the complex and upgraded the response to include 6 additional Vancouver fire units. First arriving crews found a first floor apartment with smoke coming from a partially opened window, crews had force their way into the apartment and found a fire burning in the kitchen that was quickly extinguished. The initial arriving crew searched the apartment and found an unconscious victim in a bedroom within the first minute of gaining access to the fire unit. Firefighters rescued the victim and he was treated by VFD crews on scene for smoke inhalation and a medical condition and released. 2 engines remained on scene for smoke removal
