PORTLAND, Oregon – Willamette National Cemetery is looking for volunteers to staff the cemetery’s Public Information Center. Duties involve answering the phones and greeting Veterans, family members, funeral directors and the public that visit the cemetery.
“We are looking for volunteers with strong communication skills to help staff our Public Information Center,” said Willamette National Cemetery Director Pete Sardo. “This is an ideal position for someone that wants to give back to Veterans and enjoys interacting with the public,” he said.
Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but the shifts are flexible. Volunteers assist the cemetery by directing people attending services to the correct funeral staging area, giving directions and helping visitors locate gravesites. Willamette National Cemetery registers its volunteers with the VA’s Volunteer Services at the Portland VA Medical Center. For more information, please contact Pete Sardo or Roger Huntley at 503-273-5250.
