Christmas Activities Today with Union Gospel Mission
Portland, Ore., - Wednesday, December 18th at 5pm the Beaverton Police Department will be stopping by the Union Gospel Mission’s LifeChange home for women and children to bring Christmas gifts for the children. The event is called Officer Santa Drop. LifeChange for Women and Their Children is located at 3400 SW 103rd Avenue Beaverton, OR 97005.
LifeChange for Women and Their Children is a safe healing home where women and children experiencing homelessness, escaping domestic violence, and dealing with substance abuse issues can be safe, off the streets and heal from trauma. Women and children receive counseling, life skills training, and are part of a supportive community.
Also, happening Wednesday, December 18th at 5pm on the other side of Portland is an early Christmas celebration for people experiencing homelessness on the east side of the city. Union Gospel Mission, in partnership with Central Nazarene Church, will put on a Christmas dinner at 9715 SE Powell Blvd, Portland, OR 97266.
Many people who are experiencing homelessness live outside of downtown Portland where the majority of services are located. The hope is to provide a fun, warm environment where people can get a respite from life outside and experience a warm Christmas meal.
There will be opportunities for interviews and photos.
