Volunteers Will Pack 400 Thanksgiving Food Baskets at Union Gospel Mission to Help Local Families

Portland, Ore., - Union Gospel Mission will be packing and distributing 400 Thanksgiving baskets to families and individuals in need in partnership with local churches and other non-profits. Each basket includes a certificate for a turkey that can be redeemed at a local grocer plus all the ingredients for a complete Thanksgiving meal, including dessert.

Volunteers will be packing the Thanksgiving baskets at 15 NW Third Avenue in Portland on Saturday, November 23rd from 9 am-11 am. Baskets will be distributed from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm the same day to local non-profits, churches, those in need in the neighborhood.

“This is one of my favorite days of the year because I see the volunteers working so hard to put the 400 baskets together and then on the same day see our guests receive the baskets with such grateful hearts. It’s a great day!!” Lori Quinney, Food Service Director for Union Gospel Mission.

“Many families and individuals in our community do not have the means to afford a Thanksgiving meal. It is a privilege to offer a full Thanksgiving meal to people who may not otherwise enjoy one.” Adam Moore, Homeless Services Director Union Gospel Mission
