Approximately 600 UCCS students will be participating in a UCCSlead Day of Service tomorrow, September 14, at various locations across the Pikes Peak Region. The Day of Service will run from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Students will meet in Berger Hall on the UCCS campus an hour before their shift time for breakfast and a welcome introduction. From there, UCCS shuttles will take them to the service location of their choosing.
UCCSlead Days of Service encourages student participation in community engagement and activism by volunteering in service-learning projects that benefit and connect to the broader Colorado Springs community.
Students will be transported to one of 13 partner locations in the Colorado Springs area to complete their three-hour service-learning project. Each Day of Service has unique partners and service-learning opportunities available for students to select from. At each Day of Service, students will also have the option to perform a service-learning project on the UCCS campus, if they desire to volunteer with a campus partner or stakeholder.
Students will volunteer for organizations including The Resource Exchange, Special Kids Special Families, Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity, Christmas Unlimited, Care and Share Food Bank, the Humane Society, Project Angel Heart, Rocky Mountain Field Institute, CPCD – Giving Children a Head Start and Concrete Couch.
