UCC Art Gallery Presents High Desert to High Tide (Photo) - 04/01/24

ROSEBURG, Ore., April 1, 2024 – The Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College presents “High Desert to High Tide.” This exhibition features fifteen watercolor and acrylic paintings by Oregon artist, Bets Cole. This series of paintings feature Oregon landscapes from the shore to our high desert, including depictions of valleys in between. The show will run from April 1 to May 1. A free public reception and artist talk will take place on April 10, from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. 

As an exhibiting artist for over 30 years, Bets Cole has achieved success in selling and showing her artwork nationwide. Bets earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. She is known for her dramatic large-scale charcoal drawings and her colorful watercolor, acrylic and gouache paintings. Bets Cole currently paints full-time in the plein air tradition, traveling to locations throughout the United States and Europe.

The show will be on display at UCC inside The Art Gallery at the Whipple Fine Arts Center from April 1 through May 1. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Admission is free.

 

About The Art Gallery 

The UCC Art Gallery is located in the Whipple Fine Arts Building at Umpqua Community College, 1140 Umpqua College Road, Roseburg, OR, 97470. The Art Gallery is a 100 square-foot exhibition space that features six exhibitions per year, showcasing a variety of media from emerging to established artists. The primary focus of the Art Gallery is to exhibit high-quality artwork for the education and cultural benefit of the students of UCC and the residents of Douglas County.
