ROSEBURG, Ore., Aug. 14, 2023 – More than 100 GED candidates graduated from Umpqua Community College’s Woolley Center during the 2022-23 school year, reaching a themed goal the college aspired to known as “Road to 100.”

The “Road to 100” goal helped motivate students, staff and faculty to surpass the century mark with 106 General Education Diploma graduates, breaking the previous record of 99 graduates in a school year. There were 54 GED graduates in the 2021-22 school year.

Of the 106 graduates, over 65 students participated in the UCC commencement ceremony on June 16.

Out of 17 community colleges in Oregon, Umpqua Community College Woolley Center, Adult Basic Skills program, is on track to be the top-performing ABS program for student educational gains for the fifth year in a row.

The Woolley Center continues to break down barriers for students by now offering free classes for first time students starting this fall. This unique opportunity provides the opportunity for students to not only complete their GED, but also build skills to attend college, or learn English as a second language.

Fall Term starts September 25 and orientations begin September 11. Please visit Umpqua.edu to register for free classes at the Woolley Center.
