News Release
Man Arrested for Murder After Assault on Elderly Female - 07/20/18

UPDATE:  Detectives identified the victim of yesterday's homicide as Ms. Wendy Jane Henson, 74 years of age, of Tualatin.  Ms. Henson was the victim of an assault and later died as a result of her injuries.  The suspect in this incident, Mr. Garth Beams, 47 years of age, of Tualatin, was the victim's son.  Ms. Henson and Mr. Beams resided in the home located in the 20000 block of SW 72nd Avenue where the incident occurred.

On Thursday, July 19, 2018, at approximately 2:53 pm, Tualatin Police responded to a report of an assault in the 20000 block of SW 72ndAvenue, in Tualatin.

When officers arrived they located a 74 year old female assault victim inside the home.  The female victim was transported to OHSU but later died as a result of her injuries.

Officers also located a 47 year old male suspect inside the home.  The suspect, identified as Mr. Garth Beams, was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Washington County Jail on a charge of Murder.

The Tualatin Police were assisted by members of the Washington County Major Crimes Team and the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.
