Man Arrested For Assaulting A Stranger -10/03/24
A man has been arrested and charged with assault after police believe he randomly attacked a stranger at a grocery store.
On September 19, 2024, at 11:25AM Tigard Police officers were dispatched to the Fred Meyer on SW 72nd Avenue & Pacific Highway (99W) for an assault call. An employee called 911 to report a customer was leaving the store when a man suddenly punched her twice in the head.
Officers learned the victim, a 61-year-old woman who lives in Tigard, did not know the man who assaulted her. She went to the hospital for an evaluation and was released.
Meanwhile, responding officers conducted a K-9 track to try and find the suspect, who had walked away from the scene, but he was not immediately found. In the course of the investigation, he was identified as Isaiah Marquis, age 25, from Tigard.
Today, October 3, 2024, Marquis turned himself in to the Tigard Police Department and he was arrested by detectives on a charge of assault IV. Any potential motive for this attack remains unclear but will be part of the investigation and prosecution phase moving forward.
