Stabbing Investigation Underway -07/12/24

An investigation is underway after a man is believed to have stabbed his mother several times.

At 12:54pm today (7/12/24) Tigard Police officers were called to the Meadow Creek Apartments on SW North Dakota Street. Officers learned a 48-year-old woman who lives at the complex came to a neighbor’s door saying she had just been stabbed by her son.

Officers quickly arrived and got the victim from the apartment. She was taken to the hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

While officers were on scene, the 28-year-old suspect called 911 from a nearby business to turn himself in. Officers believe the stabbing happened in the woman’s apartment unit, and the son walked to the commercial area afterward, where he was safely arrested. He will be booked into the Washington County Jail on charges including first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Several witnesses were in the area during this incident. If you saw or heard something that may help in this investigation and have not talked to a police officer, please call non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111.

The names of those involved are not being released at this time, while officers work to contact additional family members.
