News Release
Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Underway - 06/07/24

The Tigard Police Department is conducting a pedestrian safety enforcement until noon today, Friday, June 7th.

The enforcement will be held at marked and unmarked crosswalks throughout the city, including:

  • SW McDonald Street & SW 100th Avenue
  • SW 121st Avenue & SW Summer Crest Drive
  • SW Gaarde Street & SW Greenfield Drive

As a reminder, every intersection – whether marked or not – is considered a crosswalk in Oregon. One of the goals of this enforcement detail is to raise driver awareness about pedestrian safety, which also reduces the risk of automobile-pedestrian crashes and injuries. Depending on the circumstances of the situation, drivers could be issued warnings or citations.

Learn more about crosswalk laws in Oregon at: www.oregon.gov/odot/Safety/Documents/OregonCrosswalkLawsENG.pdf.

This safety mission is made possible thanks to federal grant dollars for officer overtime, which are distributed by the Oregon Department of Transportation and managed by Oregon Impact.
