Joint News Release: Man Arrested In Several Armed Robberies - 01/25/24

JOINT NEWS RELEASE:
MAN ARRESTED IN SEVERAL ARMED ROBBERIES

A man was safely arrested this morning in connection with the armed robbery of several convenience stores across the Washington County area.

Two of those robberies happened within minutes of each other overnight. At 11:59 PM, Tualatin Police were called to an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven (6630 SW Nyberg St). The clerk reported a man with a gun came in, demanded money and left in a car. Minutes later at 12:15 AM, a man with the same description robbed a Plaid Pantry in Tigard at gunpoint (11705 SW Pacific Highway) and also left in a car.

Just after 1 AM the suspect’s car was found at an apartment complex in Wilsonville (7875 SW Vlahos Drive). Search warrants were served on the car and on an apartment unit, where the suspect was safely taken into custody with help from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office SWAT team.

He has been identified as Success Ben, age 24. Investigators believe Mr. Ben is also responsible for at least two additional armed robberies involving a gun:

  • 1/14/2024: Sunshine Market & Deli in North Plains (9950 NW Glencoe Rd)
  • 10/2/2023: 7-Eleven in Beaverton (8106 SW Hall Blvd)

It is possible that Mr. Ben may be linked to additional cases and more charges may be pending. We are grateful that nobody was hurt in any of these robberies.

This is a joint news release on behalf of the Tualatin Police Department, Tigard Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office / North Plains Police Department, Beaverton Police Department and the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office / Wilsonville Police Department.
