UPDATE #1: (5/10/21)
Now that an autopsy has been completed, we can identify the deceased in this case as Nicholas James Potter, age 36.
Investigators believe there was an ongoing issue related to Mr. Potter and threats of violence. A relative within the household shot Mr. Potter and that person is cooperating with the police investigation. At this time, no charges have been filed. Any future charging decisions will be made by the Washington County District Attorney’s office after reviewing the full case investigation.

ORIGINAL RELEASE (5/7/21): At 12:47 a.m. today, May 7, 2021, Tigard Police were called to a domestic disturbance with a weapon at a home in the 15000 block of SW 79th Avenue. Arriving officers found a man deceased inside the home, who had been shot.
Tigard Police detectives are investigating this shooting and the Washington County District Attorney’s Office will be reviewing the case. There is no threat to the public.
At this time, no charges have been filed and the names of those involved are not being released. An update will likely be released on Monday once the autopsy is finished.
