News Release
Investigation Continues into Tigard Riot, Statement at 1pm - 01/08/21

The investigation into last night’s unlawful assembly and riot in Tigard is still in its early stages. A group of roughly 100 individuals caused significant damage at the Tigard Police Department, City Hall, Permit Center and several blocks of the downtown Tigard business district. On city property alone, more than 20 windows were broken. The amount of graffiti to city property and downtown businesses is extensive.

We are encouraging any Tigard businesses or residents that suffered damage to report it to Tigard Police so we can follow up on the investigation. We are also encouraging anyone who was in the area who may have photos or videos from the unlawful assembly and riot, and/or subsequent damage, to report that to us as well. We are committed to working with our partners to ensure those who caused damage in our city will be prosecuted.

(Newsrooms: Chief McAlpine will be giving a statement on the riot at 1pm today outside the front lobby door of the Tigard Police Department, 13125 SW Hall Blvd.)
