MEDIA INVITATION: Community Members and Off-duty Firefighter to be Recognized for Saving Jogger in Cardiac Arrest - 02/07/24

MEDIA INVITATION: Community Members and Off-duty Firefighter to be Recognized for Saving Jogger in Cardiac Arrest

TVF&R invites members of the media to a reunion event where two bystanders and a TVF&R firefighter will be recognized for saving a 37-year-old woman who suffered a cardiac arrest event while out for a jog last September.

After seeing the woman collapsed on the sidewalk, two bystanders called 911 and began performing CPR with direction from 911 dispatchers at the Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency (WCCCA). PulsePoint, a lifesaving phone app that generates an alert triggered by 911 dispatchers and sent to app subscribers when someone has gone into cardiac arrest, alerted an off-duty TVF&R firefighter who was at home nearby and responded to provide CPR. The woman was transported to the hospital, recovered, and is excited to reunite with the people that came to her aid.

Early notification and the coordinated actions of bystanders, firefighters, dispatchers, and EMS professionals unequivocally saved a woman’s life. Please join us as the survivor tells her story and meets with all those involved in providing her care.
