Tigard, Oregon – Tigard-Tualatin School District (TTSD) Superintendent Sue Rieke-Smith announced today that Brian Bailey will assume the role of principal at Tigard High School. Bailey steps into the position previously filled by Andy Van Fleet who transitioned on July 1 to the principal role at TTSD’s Fowler Middle School.
“Brian's administrative experience at various levels within an education system makes him a perfect choice for THS,” said Superintendent Rieke-Smith. “He has a long history of building and stewarding strong, positive relationships and leveraging them to improve student outcomes. We are excited to bring his value-based, data-driven leadership style to THS.”
With nearly 20 years in education, Brian comes to TTSD after eight years with Sherwood School District (SSD). There he served as an associate principal at Sherwood High School; a principal at Laurel Ridge Middle School; and most recently as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability for SSD. Prior to SSD, Brian served as an assistant principal at South Salem High School and as Dean of Students/Assistant Athletic Director and as a teacher at West Linn High School.
“There is only one job that could get me to consider leaving my current district and the Tigard High School principal position is that job,” said Bailey. “THS is steeped in tradition, with a long history of success academically, athletically, and in the arts. I am honored to have this opportunity and look forward to working in the community I call home.”
Brian earned a BA in Health Education and a BA in Athletic Training from Linfield College in McMinnville; a M.Ed in Administration from Concordia University and his Continuing Administrative Licensure from Lewis & Clark College. His wife just celebrated her 20-year anniversary as a teacher and Literacy Specialist for TTSD and they have two children attending the district.
Bailey joins THS’ administrative team that includes three associate principals – Angelita Miller, Tyler Davila and Lisa Dailey.
