Hillsboro, Oregon - St. Matthew Catholic School is pleased to announce the hiring or Kristin Jost as the next principal beginning July 1, 2022.
Kristin Jost comes to St. Matthew after eighteen years of successful teaching experience in elementary education. In 2020, Kristin completed her Administrative License at the University of Portland. She also spent the last year working as part of the Interim Administrative Team at St. Ignatius School.
Kristin grew up in southeast Portland and attended St. Ignatius School and St. Mary’s Academy. She earned a Master’s in Education from Warner Pacific University in 2010 and a B.A. in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Western Oregon University in 2003. Kristin has held numerous leadership roles at St. Ignatius Catholic School and the Archdiocese of Portland, including mentoring multiple student teachers to complete their education programs, training others for Rubicon curriculum mapping, and facilitating the alignment and mapping of the St. Ignatius School curriculum. She has been a part of the science team implementing next-generation science standards for the Archdiocese. In addition, she has been the staff liaison for her current school’s auction. She is committed to building positive, working relationships across all stakeholders.
In her letter of recommendation, Kelli Clark, former Principal of St. Ignatius School, stated, “As a new principal, tackling new territory with her hallmark energy, unparalleled organization, problem-solving stance, and passion will be no surprise. But the depth of her heart and core identity as a Catholic is what will bring next-level mission and identity to her leadership role. She believes in social justice in the power of the Catholic community to make the world a better place. She’s committed to supporting young people in their formation, and her leadership will serve the community well. I support her with my strongest endorsement.”
Kristin shared during the interview process, “The principal is the primary religious and educational leader of the school. Because I have the drive to inspire and engage faculty, staff, parents, and students in the pursuit of spiritual development and academic excellence, the role of a principal is the position that I aspire to. Being a dynamic leader, I will strive to demonstrate outstanding educational vision, professionalism, leadership skills, organizational ability, and interpersonal strengths to serve my Catholic community. High expectations and a culture of continuous improvement, just as I currently do in the classroom, will be a trademark of my tenure.”
During this time, Diane Ramsperger, our Interim Principal, has generously offered to work closely with Kristin to ensure the best transition possible.
