July 23, 2024, Colorado Springs, CO – Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) invites the community to join them at the 13th annual Night of Comedy (NOC) – Silver Buckles and Endless Chuckles on Saturday, September 28th, at the Boot Barn Hall featuring renowned professional Comedian, K-Von. This signature fundraising event raises funds supporting wraparound services across the lifespan for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers.
Celebrating 25 years, Special Kids Special Families has served the Pikes Peak region and has been committed to providing care and respite for those with emotional, cognitive, and physical disabilities. By promoting, strengthening, and supporting children and adults living with disabilities, SKSF provides specialized care needs throughout their life span. Every month, hundreds of people and their caregivers are supported by services and guidance provided by Special Kids Special Families.
"Strong, healthy families are at the core of our goals and values," said Derek Wilson, Senior Director of Development and Communications. "The people we look after are unique and require specialized care and attention. Moreover, we provide a break and support that caregivers greatly need.”
SKSF Executive Director (ED) Kevin Porter stated, “One of our most important goals is working on life and independent skills building. Additionally, we don’t turn away anyone for the inability to pay. The cost for the type of care we provide is more than what’s charged. That’s why the dollars raised from the NOC are so vital so we can continue to serve more families with the highest quality of care.”
ED Porter went on to say, “Special Kids Special Families understands that laughter really can be the best medicine! The care and respite provided to families is invaluable. The families we serve daily deal with hefty challenges that can at times feel overwhelming. Having a night where we can provide that “medicine” and levity can be equally priceless to those who are investing in our good work and mission.”
