Silverton Fire District Announces Retirement Of Assistant Chief Ed Grambusch (Photo) - 10/04/23

The Silverton Fire District is proud to announce the retirement of Assistant Chief Ed Grambusch after a remarkable 33-1/2 year career in the fire service.

Ed has been an integral part of the Silverton Fire District and his contributions have been invaluable. His dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence have helped shape our District's culture and values.

AC Grambusch has served the citizens of the Silverton Fire District with distinction and dedication for over 33-1/2 years.  Ed’s service and leadership as the Operations, Training, and Safety Chief throughout the years for the District will be greatly missed. We will miss the experience and contributions Ed brought to the organization and wish him well in his much-deserved retirement.

Ed began as volunteer firefighter with the Silverton Fire District in March of 1990, working his way through the volunteer ranks as a firefighter, lieutenant, captain, and battalion chief.  He was a 911 dispatcher and later, dispatch center director for the Silver Falls 911 Center.  In July 2008 he was hired full time as the Training Captain with the Silverton Fire District.     He was appointed Deputy Chief in June 2017 and Assistant Chief in January of 2018 overseeing Operations, Training, Health and Safety for the Fire District.  Among Chief Grambusch’s many contributions, his grant writing skills have been instrumental in the Fire District receiving numerous grants over the last 20 plus years.  He has been successful in obtaining grants for various types of firefighter PPE, SCBA upgrades, a type 6 brush rig, extensive firefighter training curriculum, multimedia, classroom equipment, furnishings, and radio communication equipment through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. He has received several grants for hazardous materials training and for a trailer with extensive decontamination equipment and supplies.  He has written several successful State of Oregon Seismic Rehabilitation grants benefiting all five of the Fire District’s stations and received awards of several staffing related grants through SAFER and OSFM programs. These achievements have positively impacted the fire district, its firefighters, the organization and the community.

An event celebrating Ed's career and all that he has accomplished will take place on November 8th, 2023 from 3pm -5pm for colleagues, friends, and family who have been touched by Ed's work and legacy.
