Requested Items: Non-perishable food donations are always needed and greatly appreciated, including peanut butter, canned meats, pasta and sauce, rice, boxed meals, cereal, coffee, tea, cooking spray, and canned fruits and vegetables. Essential personal care items such as toilet paper, toothpaste, and deodorant are also in high demand.
Donations of pet food are especially meaningful for older adults with companion animals. Many seniors will make sure their pets are fed before themselves, often skipping meals rather than letting their beloved companions go without.
“Summer is a critical time when many of our senior neighbors face increased hardship,” said Jason DeaBueno, President & CEO of Silver Key. “Community support through food donations helps ensure our older adults don’t have to choose between groceries and other essential needs.”
For those unable to attend, donations are accepted year-round at the Silver Key Food Pantry located at 1605 S. Murray Blvd., open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM.
