News Release
Silver Key Senior Services to Launch Two New Service Extensions for Falcon/Peyton and Calhan Communities - 10/07/21

With this initiative we will better serve the needs of a growing area, bringing VITAL services to diverse seniors THROUGH innovative methods.

Colorado Springs, CO, October 2021 – Silver Key is excited to announce that it will be proceeding with the launch of two new service extensions! With funding from El Paso County Economic Development (CDBG-CV grant) and in a unique partnership with the Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD), Silver Key is initiating two "pop-up" service extension sites in the Falcon/Peyton and Calhan communities.  CSO, Derek Wilson stated that this funded effort allows us to “Expand and extend services to better serve and meet the needs of seniors in our growing community!”  Funding is made possible from two El Paso County Economic Development CDBG grants to bring much needed support and services to fill service gaps in meal delivery and other health and wellness initiatives for Covid impacted seniors living in rural El Paso County.  Additionally, this initiative allows Silver Key to establish a new community public partner through PPLD with connections to multi-generation families (“grand-families.”)

Data indicates that one of the fastest growing demographics in the El Paso County region are retirees aged 65+.  Population growth and demographic shifts in the region necessitate that we bring needed resources to Eastern El Paso County.  Initial services will begin October 12th with pop-up locations at the two libraries distributing Grab N' Go meals.  Offered in a convenient five-pack, Silver Key's senior-specific nutritious chef-created meals are freshly prepared and then frozen for easy take-home enjoyment. Nutritional information and education is also provided.  Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Silver Line at 719-884-2300 by 2 pm the day prior to delivery or by completing the online reservation form found on our website.   Weekly meal deliveries will be made available each Tuesday between 1:00-2:00 at the respective library locations:  High Prairie Library in Falcon/Peyton and the Calhan Library.

Silver Key will be conducting nutritional assessments and client surveys to better understand and provide for the additional service needs in the unique communities.  Based on those results, we anticipate making a variety of additional services available including Behavioral Health, Case Management, Housing Navigation, Five Wishes Advance Care Planning, Reassurance+, and more.  While grant funding has made many of these services available at no cost to area seniors, Silver Key services are made possible through the generosity of community partners.  To ensure these services remain, please consider making a donation today and/or choose to use our competitively priced private pay offerings for your health and wellness needs.  Silver Key is a health care entity that serves seniors who face distinctive challenges and barriers that we are uniquely best suited to lead and serve on making a difference.
