News Release
Hot Weather Creates High Call Volume (Photo) - 07/27/20

Between 5 PM on Friday, July 24th and 8 AM on Monday, July 27th Sheridan, SW Polk and West Valley crews responded to 18 medical calls, 3 public assists, 3 traffic accidents, 7 fires calls with 2 additional rechecks, and 3 mutual aids. This is a higher than average call volume for our three districts. The fire and traffic accident calls tie up resources for longer stretches of time and, due to hot weather and low humidity, more personnel. With the longer periods of high temperatures and low humidity in the coming weeks, we urge the public to be cautious with any heat sources. Common fire causes this time of year are fireworks, cigarettes, farming equipment, spark emitting mufflers, and mechanical failures which grow much more quickly with these weather conditions.
