On 8/30/24 at about 10:45 AM Sandy Police responded to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Pioneer Boulevard and Shelley Avenue in Sandy. Multiple witnesses reported seeing a silver Toyota Sienna Van strike a pedestrian in the marked crosswalk. The pedestrian was flown by Life Flight helicopter to an area hospital and his condition is unknown.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There are no indications the driver was impaired. The driver was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. One lane of Pioneer Boulevard was closed for approximately three hours while officers documented the crash scene. The Sandy Police Department is grateful to Oregon State Police for their assistance with the crash investigation.
