Stabbing in Sandy Follow Up Release - 07/10/19

Stabbing at the Sandy Taco Bell

Follow up to original press release. 

On 07/09/19 at 2111 hours police responded to the Sandy Taco Bell on report of a stabbing.  The suspect fled in a vehicle that was later stopped on Hwy 212 near 130th by deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.  The victim was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment and was reported to be in good condition at the time of the original release.

Sandy Police Officers, Detective, and investigators from the Clackamas County Major Crimes Team were dispatched to investigate the scene.

It was determined that a verbal confrontation had ensued inside the restaurant between the victim and the suspect.  The suspect left the restaurant, came back inside, approached the victim and slashed his throat.  The suspect then fled the scene in her vehicle nearly hitting witnesses in the parking lot.  The victim and suspect did not know each other.

The victim’s injury required extensive stitching and he was released from the hospital around midnight.  The victim is recovering well and in good spirits.

The suspect who slashed the victim’s throat was Caley S. Mason of Maryland.  She is being held at the Clackamas County Jail and charged with Assault II, Reckless Driving, and Menacing with a $255,000 bail.

The second suspect, Phillip M. Thomas of Maryland is being held at the Clackamas County Jail and charged with Tampering With Physical Evidence with a bail of $2,500.

This investigation is still ongoing.  Additional charges may be added or modified. 

The victim in this case has requested the media respect his privacy and at this time does not want to be contacted.
