Man Arrested After Reported Domestic Violence Kidnapping
SALEM, Ore. -- Salem Police arrested Jayden William Baptiste, 20, of Keizer, Thursday afternoon following a report of a physical domestic disturbance in northeast Salem.
At approximately 4:52 p.m. on October 1, 2026, officers responded to the report in the 4000 block of Salem Industrial Drive NE, discovering the vehicle had left the area before officers arrived, but a witness reported seeing a 19-year-old woman being forced into a vehicle. Officers searched for the vehicle and shared information with surrounding agencies. Keizer Police located and stopped the vehicle a short time later.
Salem, Keizer and Oregon State Police coordinated their response to ensure the suspect was taken into custody while maintaining safety for the victim. Domestic Violence Response Team officers responded to further the investigation.
Baptiste was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Marion County Jail on charges of Kidnapping in the Second Degree (Domestic Violence) and Assault in the Fourth Degree (Domestic Violence). The investigation is ongoing. Any further questions should be directed to the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.
As October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we would like to recognize the quick actions of the witness who reported this incident, as well as the courage and strength the victim displayed. If you see someone in immediate danger, call 911.
