News Release
Police officer arrested - 02/07/19

On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, Salem Police officer Seth T. Thayres was arrested in the Portland metro area by the Portland Police Bureau. He was charged with one count of Possession of Methamphetamine and two counts of Theft I.

At the time of the arrest, Thayres was on administrative leave from the Salem Police Department. He has been on administrative leave since October 9, 2018, awaiting the outcome of a fitness for duty evaluation.

The Salem Police Department hired Thayres as a lateral officer from Florida in August of 2014.

Please see the Portland Police Bureau's press release for further details of the arrest. This is an ongoing investigation and any further information will be released by the Portland Police Bureau.
