On Thursday, September 13, 2018, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Salem Police Department responded to Minto Brown Park on a reported kidnapping. Officers quickly located the 29 year old female victim. She told officers she was walking in the park near the pedestrian bridge when she was knocked down and dragged into the brush by a man armed with a knife. The victim fought off the attacker, ran away and called police.

Within four minutes of contacting the victim, officers searching the park found a man matching the description of the attacker. He was identified as David Belluno, age 23 of Salem. Belluno was detained and taken to the police department to be interviewed by detectives. Ultimately, Belluno was lodged at the Marion County Correctional Facility on charges of: Kidnapping I, Attempted Rape I, Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Assault IV.
