Salem Police Celebrates Promotions (Photo) - 12/01/17

The Salem Police Department celebrated the promotion of five officers to the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant.

Salem Police Chief Jerry Moore presided over the promotion ceremony of Corporal Steve Galvin, Corporal Dustin Wann, Sergeant Jake Pratt, Sergeant Trevor Morrison and Sergeant Mike Baskett Friday afternoon in the Salem City Council Chambers.

Corporal Steve Galvin has been with the Salem Police Department since November of 2006. He has an Advanced Certification from the Department of Public Safety and Standards and Training, is a Defensive Tactics instructor, is on the Tactical Negotiations Team and is also a Field Training Officer.

Corporal Dustin Wann was hired by the Salem Police Department in December of 2004 and was initially promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2011. He left the Salem Police Department for a short time and applied for promotion back to the rank of Corporal. During his tenure with the department, Corporal Wann has been a member of SWAT, the Downtown Enforcement Team, Mobile Response Team, Trauma Team, Domestic Violence Response Team, Drug Activity Response Team, and is a Defensive Tactics instructor. He has also been a detective working in both the Property and Persons investigations units and has been a Field Training Officer.

Sergeant Jake Pratt has been with the Salem Police Department since January of 2006 and was promoted to the rank of Corporal in December of 2013. During his tenure with the Salem Police Department, Sergeant Pratt has been a member of the Tactical Negotiations Team, Mobile Response Team, Trauma Team, and is a Defensive Tactics instructor. He has also been a detective in the Property investigations unit and most recently an Acting in Capacity Sergeant since January, 2017.

Sergeant Trevor Morrison has been with the Salem Police Department since August of 2001. He has been a canine handler for much of his career and is a member of the department Recruiting Team. He has also been an Acting in Capacity Corporal.

Sergeant Mike Baskett began his career with the Salem Police Department as a Reserve Officer in 1995 and was hired as an officer in 1996. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2005. During his tenure with the Salem Police Department, Sergeant Baskett has been on SWAT, Trauma Team and has been a Field Training Officer. He has also been an Emergency Vehicle Operations instructor, Confrontational Simulations instructor and has been a detective in both the Persons and Property investigations units.

The Salem Police Department congratulates these officers on their promotion. They will all be assigned to the Patrol Division.
