Beach & Riverside Cleanup In Greater Portland: Local Volunteer Events Invite Community Action (Photo) - 09/11/26
Portland, Ore., September 11, 2026 – SOLVE’s annual Beach & Riverside Cleanup is bringing volunteers together across Oregon and Southwest Washington from September 18–27, with nearly 100 volunteer opportunities to clean up and care for local beaches, waterways, parks and community spaces.
From removing litter from sensitive waterways to caring for native plant gardens and cleaning up popular recreation areas, volunteers can take part in projects across Beaverton, Tualatin, Hillsboro and the surrounding region.
Featured Beach & Riverside Cleanup Events in Greater Portland
Native Plant Garden Work Party with Friends of Tualatin Hills Nature Park
Beaverton | September 19, 10 am – 12 pm
Volunteers will help spruce up the Native Plant Garden at Tualatin Hills Nature Park through weeding and mulching, with the possibility of removing ivy in the surrounding nature park. No gardening experience is necessary.
Tidy Up Downtown Hillsboro
Hillsboro | September 21, 9-12
Part of Hillsboro’s recurring Third Monday cleanup, this community event brings volunteers together to remove litter and graffiti in Downtown Hillsboro while giving back to the community.
Dawson Creek Cleanup
Hillsboro | September 26, 10 am – 12 pm
Volunteers will clean up Dawson Creek, an ecologically sensitive waterway and important habitat. The effort will focus on removing litter and waste before it can contribute to microplastics and pollutants in the creek.
Tualatin River Clean Up: Paddle Out!
Tualatin | September 26, 10 am – 2pm
Volunteers will take to the Tualatin River by canoe and kayak to remove trash from the water.
Pick Up for Pints at Binary Brewing
Beaverton | September 27, 11 am – 1 pm
Binary Brewing will host another community cleanup in Downtown Beaverton, inviting volunteers of all ages to help clean up the city before gathering back at the pub for a complimentary pint.
Hagg Lake Fall Shoreline Cleanup
Gaston | September 27, 11 am – 1 pm
Volunteers will help remove litter along the shoreline of one of the region’s popular outdoor recreation destinations, helping keep wildlife safe and the lake clean for people who hike, fish, paddle and play.
