Six local service organizations will join forces at the Deschutes County Fairground and Expo Center this Saturday to build beds for children in need. This collaboration will result in 30 more children having a bed of their own.
The members of these service clubs will also be donating sheets, blankets and pillows for the recipients of these beds. All of these clubs have made significant donations to help make sure no kid sleeps on the floor in our town. The lumber was donated by Miller Lumber, and Mountain View Heating has donated a 14-foot Ford box van so the bed deliveries will run smoothly.
The clubs participating in this build are Greater Bend Rotary, Rotary Club of Bend, Mt Bachelor Rotary, High Desert Rotary, Sisters Rotary and the Kiwanis Club of Prineville.
“We are delighted to have so many clubs join us for this build,” says Joe Myers, Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapter president. “The need continues, and we are excited to work with other orgs looking for a way to make a difference in our community.”
