News Release

CENTENNIAL PARK CLOSED DUE TO CHLORINE LEAK (Photo) - 07/06/26

Redmond, OR – On July 6, 2026, at approximately 11:14 a.m., the City of Redmond located a small, contained chlorine leak at Centennial Park.  Centennial Park is currently closed awaiting the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team from Salem to respond to assist in clean-up.  The park closure is expected to last several hours.  Although there is a noticeable chlorine smell in the area, the incident is localized and poses no imminent threat to the community.  Please avoid the area for your safety and to allow emergency response personnel to have quick access to the area as needed.  There are no reported injuries from the incident. 

 

The Redmond Police Department (RPD) would like to remind citizens if they smell a gas or discover a chemical leak, to always report the information to non-emergency Dispatch at 541-693-6911.  Any media inquiries should be directed to Redmond Fire & Rescue as they are the primary agency for response to the incident.
