Police Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Jose Herrera, a Suspect in February 15 Hit and Run Incident
Redmond, Oregon- On Tuesday February 15, 2022, at approximately 6:44 p.m., officers with the Redmond Police Department (RPD) responded to a hit and run accident at the intersection of SW Canal Blvd and SW Salmon Ave. A dark grey BMW passenger car, driven by suspect Jose Herrera, hit two Redmond residents: a 30-year-old female and a 12-year-old female, and was last seen traveling west on SW Salmon Ave. Both victims were provided medical attention and transported by Redmond Fire & Rescue to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon, with non-life-threatening injuries. Both have been treated and released from the hospital.
Seven minutes later, at approximately 6:51 p.m., the same vehicle was involved in a second hit and run at SW Salmon Ave., near SW 25th St. In this instance, the BMW rear-ended and side-swiped the driver side of a silver Chrysler passenger car. The suspect vehicle then turned north on SW 25th St. and the unknown driver fled on foot.
Officer’s, including use of a K-9 dog, searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
The 18-year-old male victim who had been in the silver Chrysler passenger car received minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Redmond Fire & Rescue medics.
During the investigation RPD identified Redmond resident 35-year-old Jose “Joey” Herrera as a suspect in this case, RPD case #22-3970.
