The preliminary results of the investigation indicate 79-year-old Redmond resident Archie Carrol was driving a black 2000 Toyota Tundra north on NW 6th St., just north of NW Oak Tree Lane. His vehicle crossed the roadway and collided with a blue 2004 Ford F150, which was traveling south on NW 6th St.  Mr. Carrol died at the scene of the accident.

Redmond Fire was able to extract the driver of the 2004 Ford 38-year-old Prineville resident Mario Ortiz Lopez, who was flown by Life Flight to Bend St. Charles Medical Center with serious injuries.  Mr. Ortiz Lopez’s passenger, 41-year-old Prineville resident Rodolfo Ortiz Lopez, was transported by ground ambulance to Bend St. Charles Medical Center for evaluation.

The Bend Police Department conducted a reconstruction of the accident scene.  Northwest 6th St., between NW Oak Tree Ln and NW Quince Ave., was closed for approximately six hours.  This case is being investigated by RPD, in cooperation with the Deschutes County Medical Examiner’s Office and Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office.
