DUII Driver Arrested After Damaging Three Parked Vehicles (Photo) - 01/03/20

RELEASE ISSUED AGAIN.  UNKNOWN PROBLEM WITH PREVIOUS RELEASE PHOTOS AND POST TO FLASHALERT (NO CHANGES)

==========================

Redmond, OR – On Friday, January 3, 2020, shortly after 3:00 PM, Redmond Police Officers and Redmond Fire & Rescue personnel responded to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of SW 6th Street and SW Cascade Ave in downtown Redmond.

A Toyota 4Runner side-swiped a parked Ford pickup on NW 6th Street near NW Greenwood Ave and then continued driving south. The 4Runner entered downtown Redmond, a 20-mph zone, at speeds reported to be close to 50-mph. The sidewalks were filled with afternoon shoppers and diners, with much of the on-street parking spaces occupied.

The 4Runner swerved to the left and rear-ended a parked GMC Terrain. The force of the collision launched the unoccupied GMC into a street tree, and then across SW Cascade Ave. The GMC collided with a parked Toyota Corolla. The 4Runner was disabled at the crash scene after it came to a stop on the sidewalk.

The driver of the 4Runner was identified as Ms. Ashley Clary, a 28-year-old female from Sisters. Ms. Clary was transported to St. Charles Redmond for minor injuries. Ms. Clary was subsequently arrested for DUII-Alcohol, Reckless Driving, four counts of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, and Hit & Run – Misdemeanor. She was released at the hospital with a citation to appear in Deschutes County Circuit Court due to medical reasons.

The Redmond Police Department reminds everyone, while the Holiday season has concluded, DUII drivers remain on our streets. If you are impaired, do not drive. If you observe a potentially impaired driver, please report it to law enforcement. In this incident, our community is fortunate no pedestrians were injured by Ms. Clary.
