UPDATE 2 - Redmond Police Peacefully Resolve Incident With A Barricaded Person - 10/15/19

UPDATE 2 -

Redmond, OR – At approximately 12:14 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, Redmond Police were called to the Oregon Tire Shop at 612 NW 5th Street in Redmond, Oregon.

As it turned out, the call for assistance was made by the eventual suspect, Mr. Oscar Landetta Bello of Culver, Oregon.  Mr. Landetta Bello reported a person with an alleged handgun, was attempting to steal a vehicle from the business.

Arriving Officers quickly learned Mr. Landetta Bello was subject to a restraining order preventing him from being at the business.  Officers also determined there was no attempt to steal a vehicle.  By the end of the incident, Officers also discovered there was no handgun present at the scene.

Officers also observed Mr. Landetta Bello had barricaded himself in the office of the Oregon Tire Shop.  A perimeter was secured and communication with Mr. Bello began via the telephone.

Crisis Team Negotiators from the Bend Police Department responded to assist.  The negotiators ultimately convinced Mr. Landetta Bello to give himself up to law enforcement.  He was taken into custody at 3:03 PM and arrested for Violation of a Restraining Order, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, and Initiating a False Report, and was then taken to St Charles Redmond for an evaluation.

Mr. Landetta Bello will be taken to jail upon his release from the hospital.

The Redmond Police Department is very appreciative of the help rendered by the Bend Police Department, Oregon State Police, and the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.  The owners and employees of the Oregon Tire Shop worked with law enforcement to help bring this incident to a successful and peaceful conclusion.
