News Release

Hit & Run, Reckless Driving, DUII Complaint Leads To Multiple Arrests (Photo) - 07/01/19

Redmond, OR – At approximately 4:50 p.m., on Saturday, June 29, 2019, Redmond Police responded to the area of NW 12th Street and NW Sprucewood Ct.  Dispatch had received reports of a possible DUII driver striking a fence, nearly hitting a small child, and a dispute between the parent of the small child and family members of the driver. 

 

Officers responded to the service call and located the suspect vehicle and driver.  Upon arrival, the driver failed to stop for the officer and subsequently nearly rear-ended another motorist.  The vehicle eventually stopped in an alley near NW 12th Street and NW Sprucewood Ct.

 

A DUII investigation was initiated, leading to the arrest of the driver.  During the investigation, four friends and family members approached officers near the scene.  Officers then attempted to arrest one of the individuals for Menacing, related to the hit and run and small child being nearly struck. During the attempted arrest, a physical dispute occurred.  In total, all four family members were arrested by Redmond Police.  Two Officers suffered minor injuries, to include bumps on the head, and scratches on arms.

 

Arrested at the scene include:

 

  • Brett Blake, a 39-year-old Redmond resident for DUII-Alcohol, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver Involved in an Accident – Property Damage, Reckless Driving, and two counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
  • Marlana Blake, a 40-year-old Redmond resident, for Interfering With A Peace Officer. 
  • Lorence Ortega, a 19-year old Redmond resident, for Menacing, Interfering With A Peace Officer, and Resisting Arrest. 
  • Kameron Leisek, a 19-year-old Redmond resident, for Menacing, Interfering With A Peace Officer, and Resisting Arrest. 
  • Cash Reese, an 18-year-old Redmond resident, for Menacing, Interfering With A Peace Officer, and Resisting Arrest. 

 

All responses to resistance and aggression incidents are reviewed by Redmond Police command staff to ensure the response used was lawful and within policy.  The review of this incident has just begun. 

 

All information will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review and a charging decision.  Video of this incident will not be released by the Redmond Police Department at this time.
