Redmond Police Investigate Shooting Incident (Photo) - 03/19/18

Redmond, OR -- On Sunday, March 18, at approximately 11:45 AM, Redmond Police Officers responded to the 1900 block of SW Reindeer Ave after receiving multiple phone calls of several rounds being fired from a firearm. The shots were reportedly in quick succession and all within a couple of seconds. The multiple phone calls led Officers to a group of townhouses, where it appeared several shots had been fired into a rear door and rear siding of a residence at 1956 SW Reindeer Ave.

Officers worked to secure the scene and ensure the safety of all residents in the area. Reverse 911 was utilized to inform those living nearby of the police activity.

Although the residence was occupied, a preliminary investigation has revealed no one was home at the time the rounds were fired. Multiple spent shell casings, presumably from a semi-automatic weapon, were recovered outside of the building.

Redmond Police Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident. It is too early to conclude if this was a targeted incident, random, or the result of some other set of circumstances yet to be discovered. The Redmond Police Department is requesting anyone with knowledge of this incident to please contact us by calling Dispatch at 541-693-6911.

The Redmond Police Department reminds everyone Oregon law (ORS 166.220) prohibits the discharge of a firearm, blowgun, bow and arrow, crossbow, or an explosive device within any city limit; or in a residential area within an urban growth boundary which is discharged in the direction of any person, building, structure, or vehicle within range of the device. There are lawful exceptions, such as firing ranges or permitted businesses (State of Oregon, 2017).

Your Redmond Police Department will investigate this incident quickly, and completely. Please contact us with any information you may have.
