Redmond, OR -- Today, February 22 at approximately 10:00 AM, Deschutes County 911 Dispatch received an emergency call from an expectant mother stating she was in labor and was at her residence in the 2300 block of SW Volcano Ave. Redmond Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the location, as was Redmond Police.
Officers Joe Casper and Michael Maloney arrived well before medics and observed there would be no-stopping the little bundle of joy from joining the world today. Officers were able to assist the mother and guided the child out. Officers tied off the umbilical cord wrapped the little boy in a towel and handed him to a very happy mother.
Redmond Fire & Rescue medics arrived after their response was delayed due to the snow and icy conditions, and transported mother and child to the hospital in Redmond. Later, Officer Casper and Officer Maloney met up with mother and her new son.
Born today at 10:08 AM, to mother Alba Cerda, was Joshua at 5 lbs 6 oz at 19 inches long.
