UPDATE 2 -- SUSPECT ARRESTED -- Robbery At Fred Meyer Gas Station In Redmond (Photo) -01/30/18

Redmond, OR -- Yesterday, January 29, at approximately 9:00 PM, Mr. Justin Lee Johnson called Deschutes County 911 Dispatch and indicated his desire to turn himself into law enforcement. Redmond Police and Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Deputies contacted Mr. Johnson on privately owned undeveloped land east of Redmond, in the area of E Antler Ave near the city limit. Mr. Johnson was arrested for Robbery in the Second Degree and Theft in the Second Degree. He was lodged at the Deschutes County Adult Jail in Bend on those charges. No money was recovered, and Mr. Johnson indicated the money had been given to other people. The Redmond Police Department is extremely appreciative of the all the information received from community members and partner law enforcement agencies. Additionally, we are thankful for the operational support we received from CERT, Bend Police, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police. Redmond Police continue to investigate the Moe's Food Mart robbery which occurred on January 20. No arrests have been made in that investigation at this time, and we are continuing to follow-up on information developed or received from those with knowledge of the case. No further information will be released from the Redmond Police Department regarding this case. Requests for information relating to the status of charging and criminal proceedings should be directed to the Deschutes County District Attorney's Office. (Previous Release) Redmond, OR -- On Saturday, January 27, 2018, regional Law Enforcement partners and members from our community identified, 38-year-old Redmond resident Justin Lee Johnson as a person of interest regarding the January 26, 2018, Fred Meyer Gas Station robbery. During the investigation of this incident, community members provided information indicating Justin Johnson was in the area of SE 11th St. and SE Antler Ave., Redmond, Oregon. On January 27, 2018, and January 28, 2018, the Redmond Police Department, with assistance from tri-county CERT (Central Oregon Emergency Response Team), Bend Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, and Redmond Fire and Rescue extensively searched the area. During these searches, Justin Johnson was not located. The Redmond Police Department wants to thank our community members, CERT, Bend Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police and Redmond Fire and Rescue for their continual assistance with this case. We are also asking for the communities assistance in locating Justin Johnson. Anybody with information regarding Justin Johnson's whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Redmond Police Department through Dispatch, 541-693-6911. (Previous Release) Redmond, OR -- Today, January 26 at approximately 1:30 PM, a robbery was reported to have just occurred at the Fred Meyer Gas Station, 855 SW 6th Street, in Redmond. It was reported a male suspect ran from the scene after taking an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. No injuries occurred as a result of this incident. Redmond Police Officers arrived in the area quickly, while attempting to contain the suspect in the area. A Bend Police Department Officer and his K9 partner responded to assist. A search of the area did not result in the suspect being found. The suspect is described as approximately 5'8" in height, in his 40's to early 50's, with brown hair and partially gray beard with a mustache. He was wearing blue jeans, and a black/gray jacket. Video surveillance from nearby businesses revealed the suspect ran through the Lowes parking lot to the south of Fred Meyer, running towards the Cook Crossing building. The Redmond Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect or where he may have gone. People at Lowe's Home Improvement or who had been in the area of SW Veterans Way and SW Canal Blvd, and saw a white male adult matching this description running south are encouraged to contact the Redmond Police Department. Please call 541-693-6911 to speak with an Officer. The Redmond Police Department is also still actively investigating the reported robbery at Moe's Food Mart on January 20. It is too soon to draw any conclusions whether or not these two incidents are related. Anyone with information regarding this robbery or the robbery on January 20 at Moe's Food Mart is encouraged to call the Redmond Police Department.
