UPDATE: American Red Cross Honors Local Teen For Saving His Grandmother's Life -03/05/24
Tayen Landers will receive the Red Cross Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action for using training skills to save a life.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(PORTLAND, Ore. March 5, 2024)
“Something is wrong with Grandma.” That’s how it all started for 16-year-old Tayen Landers. His grandmother was driving near a busy intersection in Medford when she started to look dazed and then she passed out. Tayen managed to put his foot on the brake and stop the car before it went into the intersection. He had other drivers call 911. Then, as cars were honking and passing him, he got his grandmother out and onto the street. He gave her CPR, keeping her alive until paramedics arrived. Tayen has received praise from the entire community who are so impressed by his quick thinking and composure during such a frightening time.
Read more about his amazing story here.
For this heroic and lifesaving action, Tayen will receive the Red Cross Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action in a ceremony at the Rogue Credit Union. Come see how Tayen and his grandmother are doing since that fateful day last November.
Please join us as we honor this local hero in front of his family, friends, and city leaders. Refreshments will be provided.
