Priscilla Fuentes Named New Chief Executive Of American Red Cross Cascades Region - 11/01/22

PORTLAND, ORE. (November 1, 2022) - The American Red Cross is proud to announce the appointment of Priscilla Fuentes as the new Regional Chief Executive Officer of the organization's Cascades Region. In this role, Fuentes will also serve as the Executive Director for the Northwest Oregon Chapter, one of four chapters in the region she now leads.

Fuentes, who took the helm on Aug. 8, oversees an operation that includes over 3,000 volunteers and 37 employees. This combined workforce responds to more than 680 local disasters each year; educates residents on home fire safety and emergency preparedness; deploys to disasters outside the region; supports the annual collection of approximately 182,500 units of blood at thousands of local blood drives; teaches lifesaving skills to thousands of individuals and companies; delivers aid to international Red Cross partners and those affected by emergencies across the globe; and provides support to military members, veterans, and their families.

“I am honored to continue my Red Cross career here in the Cascades Region,” said Fuentes. “The Pacific Northwest truly embodies our mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering, which we are able to do thanks to our incredible volunteers, donors and partners. I am grateful for this opportunity to serve in this role and look forward to continuing to support our communities throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington.”

With a long history of working with nonprofits, Fuentes started her career as a mentor for at-risk youth in Southern California. Over the years, she has served with several organizations including a transition program for battered women, a shelter for victims of human trafficking, and multiple educational nonprofits. She earned a graduate degree in Public Administration from California State University, Los Angeles. Prior to that she achieved a bachelor's degree from Whitworth University in Psychology.

Starting with the Red Cross in 2011 in the Los Angeles Region, Fuentes has served in positions including Grants Manager, Major Gifts Officer, Director of Business Operations, and most recently as the Chief Operations Officer for the Cascades Region. Fuentes is highly regarded as a national leader within the Red Cross, serving as the Co-Chair of the Latino Resource Group and, in 2021, was selected for the first cohort of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Solferino Academy’s Future Fellows program aimed at developing emerging leaders in the Red Cross and  Crescent global network.

“We are delighted to welcome Priscilla as the new CEO for the Cascades Region,” said Brad Houle, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Northwest Oregon Chapter. “In her four years as the region’s Chief Operations Officer, Priscilla helped guide critical decisions across multiple lines of service, quickly adapted our facilities to keep blood collections going during COVID and has a passion for helping those in our most vulnerable communities. We are incredibly fortunate to have her at the helm of the Cascades Region.”

The Cascades Region serves more than 4.5 million people throughout 42 counties across Oregon and Southwest Washington. Learn more about our lifesaving work and how you can get involved at redcross.org/cascades.
