Reynolds School District Receives T-Mobile 10 Million Project Grant For Hotspots - 02/04/21

February 4, 2021, Fairview, OR – Reynolds School District is pleased to announce that it was awarded a T-Mobile 10 Million Project grant for up to 891 hotspots for students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. The grant, lasting for five years, enables students to keep their hotspots if they continue to attend Reynolds School District schools. The hotspots are free to the school district. Each school will collaborate with Reynolds School District’s Technology Services department to determine individual needs for hot spots.

Reynolds School District has an enrollment of approximately 11,000 students, with 72% experiencing poverty. Ten percent of RSD’s student population is homeless. Sixty-seven percent of RSD’s students are minorities, including 41% Hispanic. Receiving hotspots to access the Internet will enable them to close the technology gap that occurs with these underserved and under-represented populations.

“Receiving this grant will enable students to better access the internet for homework, classes and other educational programs.” states Dr. Danna Diaz, Reynolds School District Superintendent. Chris Greenhalgh, Reynolds School District Director of Instructional Technology, mentions, “We work hard each year to ensure all students have equal access to technology for their education needs. This will help us ensure that happens.”

About Reynolds School District:
