INCIDENT TYPE: Pedestrian versus Vehicle Crash
DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: 10/03/2026 at about 0844 hours
LOCATION OF INCIDENT: Prineville, Oregon
NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:
On October 3, 2026, at approximately 8:44 a.m., a Prineville Police Officer who was in the area witnessed a vehicle strike a pedestrian at the intersection of N. Main Street and NE 7th Street.
The pedestrian, a 71-year-old Prineville resident, was walking southbound along N. Main Street and was crossing NE 7th Street in the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle turning east onto NE 7th Street.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was flown to St. Charles Bend for treatment. He was initially reported to be in critical condition; however, his current condition is unknown.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Officers found no indication that impairment was a factor in the crash. Investigators also determined that sun glare and other environmental conditions may have affected the driver’s visibility and contributed to the collision.
