Traffic Advisory: SE17th Avenue Closed To Northbound Traffic At SE Center Street For Emergency Repair (Photo) - 07/20/26
Drivers advised to avoid the area through the evening commute
PORTLAND, OR – Portland Water Bureau crews are responding to a water main break at SE 17th Avenue and SE Center Street first reported earlier in the afternoon. SE 17th Avenue will be closed between SE Holgate Boulevard and SE Center Street to northbound traffic until the issue is resolved.
The City is advising travelers to avoid the area. Drivers should use caution while driving in the area. Keep your distance from crews and slow down when traveling through work zones.
Local Trimet service at the SE 17th and Center stop will be interrupted.
Water service impacts
It is unclear if there are water service impacts at this time. Crews have recently arrived at the scene to assess the scope of the repairs needed. If you see yellow or brown water at your tap, there is guidance on the City’s website on the Water Quality Line web page.
