Additionally, Portland Fruit Tree Project’s tree care services are a year-round program designed to provide ongoing care, promote quality fruit production, ensure the holistic health and aesthetic quality of trees. Portland Fruit Tree Project offers two distinct options: Full Tree Care Service and DIY Orchard Stewardship.
Full Tree Service:
Site Visit:
The first step of fruit tree, shrub, or vine care is a site visit with Portland Fruit Tree Project staff that involves a collaborative discussion between the tree owner and skilled orchardists. During this session, participants can expect guidance on pruning, shaping, pest identification and treatment, as well as overall health and yield improvement. The result is a personalized tree service plan, offering detailed recommendations for the year ahead.
Ideal for those with limited time or interest in managing their own fruit trees, the Full Tree Service offers an all-encompassing solution. Following a consultation, clients benefit from a season-specific maintenance schedule tailored to their trees' unique needs. Experienced orchardists perform tasks such as pruning, mulching, pest care, water sprout removal, thinning fruit, and harvesting. Full-Service clients gain exclusive access to Portland Fruit Tree Project's harvesting program, allowing them to actively participate in food justice efforts within the Portland community.
Coaching Services:
For the more DIY orchardist, consider a coaching session that starts at one hour, but can be expanded based on the size of your home orchard. In these sessions, get individualized hands on pruning, pest management, tree/shrub/vine training and more. Coaching sessions can be scheduled any time of year based on your goals. Schedule with us at portlandfruit.org/treecare.
Portland Fruit Tree Project invites residents of the Portland area to take advantage of these innovative tree care services, contributing to the health of their fruit trees and the well-being of the community.
