ABOUT:
SOLVE, Portland Business Alliance, and Portland Lodging Alliance, with support from CBRE, Turner Construction Company, NAIOP Oregon, and Aspect on Sixth are joining forces to host a Downtown Portland Volunteer Litter Cleanup Day.

This event will take place at four locations throughout Portland, including The Benson Hotel, Northwest Academy, Providence Park, and Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Volunteers will arrive between 8:45 AM and 9:30 AM at the project site they signed up for to prevent crowding at check-in. Once receiving their cleanup supplies, volunteers will listen to a short safety debrief before fanning out and cleaning throughout the Downtown Corridor.

SOLVE is partnering with Transition Projects to host a hygiene product drive during this event. Volunteers are encouraged to bring toiletry items to donate at donation bins during check-in. Volunteers can find a full list of needed items on SOLVE’s website, www.solveoregon.org.

This event is part of SOLVE’s monthly effort to bring volunteers together to care for the Rose City through the simple act of picking up litter. Since these events began in September, more than 2,300 Portlanders have removed over 23,000 pounds of litter from city sidewalks, business fronts, and green spaces.  Each piece of litter removed not only helps protect the Willamette River from unwanted pollution, but it also helps bring foot traffic to downtown Portland and to the businesses that operate there.

SOLVE will be following their COVID-19 Safety Guidelines which includes requiring all volunteers to wear a mask at all times and to maintain social distancing. Disposal for the event is donated by Central City Concern.
