Portland Business Alliance board of directors makes endorsements in 2018 Portland City Council and Metro Council races - 03/13/18

Portland, Ore. - Today, the Portland Business Alliance board of directors announced its endorsement of candidates in a number of upcoming races.

"The board endorsed candidates who demonstrate a strong understanding of what our region needs to ensure strong economic opportunities," said Sandra McDonough, president and CEO of the Portland Business Alliance. "While undergoing the endorsement process, the board closely examined each candidate's position on critical issues that impact the economy and help maintain a high-quality of life for everyone. We believe the selected individuals are committed to achieving these goals at their respective levels of government."

Candidate endorsements announced by the Alliance board today were:

Portland City Council
Position 3: Loretta Smith

Metro Council
President: Lynn Peterson
District 1: Shirley Craddick
District 2: Joe Buck
District 4: Juan Carlos Gonzalez

Alliance board endorsements are based on a process that includes candidate questionnaires and interviews conducted by its endorsement committee, followed by a vote by the full board. Two-thirds of the board members present must agree before an endorsement is made.
