Pink Lemonade Project Welcomes Three New Board Members -03/26/19
Vancouver, WA – Pink Lemonade Project (PLP) welcomes three new board members.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Cory Donovan, Polina Senchilo and Adrienne San Nicolas as new members of our prestigious and devoted board. Each of these women represent a facet of communities to which PLP has strategically identified as a new audience to engage with our services or to whom we want to serve more inclusively,” said Meaghann Ande, executive director.
Dr. Cory Donovan is a breast cancer survivor and breast surgeon at Legacy Medical Group. She received her medical degree from University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, MN and completed her General Surgery Residency at OHSU in Portland, OR. She then completed a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. She is board certified in General Surgery. Her special interests include helping patients navigate a new breast cancer diagnosis, monitoring high-risk patients, addressing the needs of special populations with breast cancer, and oncoplastic breast surgery. She enjoys discussing a patient’s goals before beginning any treatment and tailoring care to each person’s lifestyle.
Polina Senchilo is the Client Relations Representative at Chappelle’s Towing, serving as a liaison between the company and our clients. She is responsible for managing client relationships, marketing development, and representing the company in the community. Polina has been a Red Coat Ambassador for the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce since September 2013. She was born in Kazakhstan, is a native Russian speaker, and has close ties to the Russian community in Clark County. She is currently serving for the second year in a row on the organization’s Pink Glow committee.
Adrienne San Nicolas is an active member of PLP’s mentorship team and longtime supporter. She is one of a very few survivors currently involved with PLP who were pre-menopausal and in a child-rearing life stage when diagnosed. Adrienne is a member of the team at Summit Chiropractic and Massage, which she balances with caring for her 13-year-old son. She serves on the Komen Race for the Cure committee in addition to her PLP commitments.
About Pink Lemonade Project
Founded in 2010 by Drs. Allen and Cassie Gabriel, Pink Lemonade Project (501c3) was created to provide critical support to breast cancer survivors who struggled with the many emotional and psychological aspects of breast cancer diagnosis and recovery. Within the breast cancer community itself, Allen and Cassie noticed a dangerous lack of information, such as when someone should get a mammogram (with or without a history of breast cancer), as well as the rights and options available for restoration after a mastectomy or lumpectomy.
Initially providing a retreat for 14 brave women, PLP expanded in 2011 with the offering of singles and couples’ retreats. Today, PLP improves the lives of many through four vital programs: Revive Retreats which offer a healing three day escape for survivors; Pink Link, offering unique educational and social gathering opportunities; one on one peer mentorship for women newly diagnosed and in treatment; and our support groups, facilitated by oncology social workers and designed to give women cancer survivors an opportunity to talk with others who are facing similar challenges in a safe, welcoming environment.
